Classes

We do things a little different. We want to build a community and for you to see the benefits of your yoga practice. That is why we offer mostly short yoga courses, so you can get the attention you deserve to develop you’re practice, create a new habit and be surrounded by like minded people. We will also offer drop in classes in the future, in the meantime there may be availability in our courses whilst we are growing.

Gentle

For those with limited mobility or recovering from injury this is a gentle practice, offering a wide range of options to help support your body at a gentle pace allowing your body to reap the benefits of each posture. Chairs, blocks, straps and bolsters are all provided to help support, strengthen and increase flexibility. There is a holistic approach to each class with a focus on breath control (pranayama), physical posture (asana) and meditation (dhyana) to help with relaxing and focusing the mind.

Restorative

Prepare yourself for deep relaxation as you are guided through supported yoga postures. Typically a class will have only four or five poses and will use props rather than relying solely on your muscles to help you hold postures for longer periods of time. During the long holds of each posture your muscles are allowed time to deeply relax and unwind. Stillness is a powerful practice for the body and mind encouraging self healing, a deep sense of peace and is a good antidote for stress.

Hatha

Hatha yoga is the classical form of yoga in which other yoga styles have emerged, including Vinyasa, Power Flow, Ashtanga and Iyengar. Each of these derivative styles of yoga offers a distinct teaching style or have been created by renowned yogis. In a typical Hatha class we will focus on each posture and explore it through body, mind and breath. Postures are generally not repeated and each posture will be adapted if required to your personal needs. The pace is a little slower but can still present a real challenge for both the body and mind. The aim is to align, focus and increase awareness. Every Hatha class will include breath control (pranayama), postures (asana) and meditation (dhyana).

Slow Flow

Slow flow is a style of Vinyasa Yoga incorporating dynamic movement and breath. Each posture is linked and flows like a graceful dance as we breath in and out. Sequences are often repeated and built upon sometimes into a peak pose or sequence to deepen and strengthen your practice. The slow pace means poses are held a little longer building your strength and flexibility allowing the student more time to be guided into the pose as opposed to Flow Yoga which demands one breath per movement.

Meditation

Dhyana or meditation is an important part of yoga practice. In a traditional yoga practice, the asana or postures are designed to create space in the body and mind to allow you to sit comfortably to prepare for meditation. It is a practice to train the mind to be single focused. Techniques like breath awareness, mindfulness, guided meditations and body scans can all be used to train the mind. It’s a practice to observe your thoughts and how they affect actions, which in turn, develop your character. It is through meditation that the true bliss of yoga is found.

A regular meditation practice can be truely transformational in a very short period of time. A daily 20 minute practice changes the neurone patterns within the brain. Simple put, meditation has the ability to break habits and habitual behaviour, giving you the power to be completely present and be the master of your body and mind.
